101_2321  Petey thinks folks should be planting Desert Broom in pollinator gardens. What?! Explain yourself Petey.

Bacharris sarothroides is truly hated by some people. Its ability to move into disturbed areas of the Sonoran Desert is amazing. Desert broom is dioecious,  meaning there are male and female plants. The females have the fluffy seed -called “desert snow” by some-  and the male, of course has the pollen. When the male plant blooms it is always covered in many species of insects gathering nectar and pollen . The male desert broom should definitely be part of any good pollinator garden. Keep in mind that they are capable of getting quite large and plant appropriately.
