Petey finds a young abandoned peccary under a mesquite tree and looks up just in time to see a large group of peccaries disappearing into the grassland. “Those critters aren’t coming back,” he quietly muttered and stared at the beautiful creature at his feet.
It took a visiting niece to get Petey back out into the Sonoran desert and remind him that the desert is beautiful.
Petey wanders into the nearby hills and comes across a couple different species of native bunch grasses and tells us all about them.
The Coachwhip snake is found all over southern Arizona in one color phase or another. I do remember finding a black phase Coachwhip years...
